AAYC Patron president Museveni reiterates call for peace talks in Sudan
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) patron, has today met and held discussions with Mr. Malik Agar, the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, who called on him at State House Entebbe.
Mr. Agar led Sudan's delegation, which attended the 12th high-level Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) summit of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lakes Region.
The two leaders discussed the current state of affairs in Sudan and President Museveni advocated for dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict, emphasizing that identifying the root causes of the conflict is essential for achieving lasting peace.

On the other hand, during the ROM summit at State House Entebbe, President Museveni who assumed chairmanship of the peace mechanism, emphasized the collective responsibility of all involved in the peace processes in the Great Lakes region, with minimal foreign interference.
Since late 2023, President Museveni has engaged with various delegations from the conflicting parties, promoting dialogue and ceasefire initiatives.
President Museveni’s renewed call for dialogue as the solution to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, aligns closely with the plea made by the Secretary General of the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) Hon. Dr. Abbas Agaba during the Africa Day celebrations held at Kololo independence grounds.
Hon. Agaba urged African leaders and global partners to unite in promoting peace across conflict-affected nations. The AAYC Secretary General also emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and international cooperation in addressing the root causes of instability, a sentiment echoed by President Museveni in his remarks as Patron of AAYC.
Their unified message underscores the urgent need for peaceful negotiations and collaborative efforts to restore stability and hope in regions plagued by violence.
