AAYC West Africa Coordinator Akoshile Mukhtar to Receive 2026 Most Influential Progressives Award for Youth Empowerment Efforts
ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Deputy President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) Coordinator for the West Africa Region, Amb. Akoshile Mukhtar, has been named among the recipients of the 100 Most Influential Progressives Award 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to youth leadership, advocacy, empowerment, and national development.
The prestigious award honours individuals whose work continues to drive positive change through visionary leadership, commitment to good governance, and efforts to create opportunities for young people.
According to a statement from the Office of the Deputy President of NYCN, Amb. Mukhtar’s recognition reflects his continued dedication to youth mobilisation, civic engagement, and fostering a new generation of leaders committed to Nigeria’s growth and progress.
Through his leadership roles, Amb. Mukhtar has championed youth inclusion, strengthened partnerships, and supported initiatives aimed at empowering young people across Nigeria and the wider West African region.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, 31st July 2026, at the Grand Ballroom, Barcelona Hotel, Abuja, starting at 6:00 PM.
The Office of the Deputy President described the recognition as both a personal milestone for Amb. Mukhtar and a reflection of the broader efforts of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in promoting youth development and transformative leadership.
“This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in advancing youth development and impactful leadership across the country,” the statement noted.
Youth leaders, partners, associates, and members of the public have been invited to join in celebrating Amb. Mukhtar’s achievement as he receives the award under the theme: “Voices of Progress, Faces of Impact.”
