Context | Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) was inaugurated by youth of Africa and Arab world gathering in Khartoum, Sudan in 2004. Its headquarter later changed to Uganda after the resolution of the Afro Arab Youth Festival of 2008, in Munyonyo (Kampala Declaration) that resolved to construct its AAYC permanent home in Kampala. A secretariat was set up at Bunamwaya to pursue the objectives of the AAYC as outlined in the AAYC Statutes. The AAYC aims to use practical approaches to deal with youth pressing issues and provide realistic solutions which corelate with the current times. It is therefore an advocacy group for youth with membership of over 50 countries of the African and Arab world including African Union, Arab League and other International bodies. |

Position Objective | The Business Development & Grants Officer is responsible for securing and managing funding partnerships with the Projects and Programs Manager. |
Main Duties (30%) | Developing and implementing fundraising and resource mobilization strategies aligned with AAYC’s mission and programs. Identifying and research potential donors, partners, and funding opportunities. Write and submit grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and partners. Coordinate and manage donor meetings, presentations, and communications. Track funding opportunities and maintain an updated donor database. Ensure timely preparation and submission of donor reports. Monitor project budgets to ensure compliance with donor requirements. Organize fundraising campaigns, events, and outreach initiatives. Represent the organization in networking events, forums, and stakeholder engagements. Support the Projects and Programs Manager with workload and co-implement initiatives as may be required and/or assigned Any other duties as may be assigned by management.

| Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities | Strong communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs i.e. Word and Excel Strong grant writing and proposal development Knowledge of donor requirements (e.g., compliance, reporting formats) Relationship management with donors and partners Strategic thinking and opportunity identification Budget development aligned with donor expectations Familiarity with major donors (e.g., UN agencies, development partners, foundations) Excellent negotiation and networking skills Strong storytelling and communication ability Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple proposals Passion for youth empowerment and regional cooperation

Academic Qualifications and Experience | University Degree in International Development, Business Administration, Economics, Public Communication or related fields. A Certificate in fundraising, grant writing, or resource mobilization is an advantage A minimum of three years of work experience in community development programs, project management, fundraising or donor relations, proposal and grant writing, facilitation and leaderships or related field Knowledge on functioning of International NGOs
